Jeffrey Deskovic, in the middle, second row, walking behind exonerated William Lopez, who he helped to exonerate in 2013
Jeffrey Deskovic is our Intro and Outro voice, but he is more than that. He is a New York State exoneree who was accused at 16, and eventually convicted for a rape and murder he did not commit. Jeffrey spent 16 years in prison before being exonerated and freed. He recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of his freedom.
We have interviewed Jeffrey a couple of times, particularly on the subject of juveniles and false confession, about which he speaks with great personal and objective insight. In the coming weeks we will be featuring him and another NY juvenile exoneree, David McCallum, who spent 29 years in prison, as they compare their own experiences of being coerced into confessing to something they did not do.
Jeffrey founded and leads The Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation For Justice, a New York based 501(c)(3) committed to the prevention of wrongful convictions both in DNA and Non-DNA cases, and the reintegration of exonerees.
